ITINERARY

Day 1: Flight to Italy
We depart from our local meet up location where we fly overnight to arrive into Milan, Italy’s Malpensa Airport. Let the Tour of Italy begin!

Day 2: Padua

After landing in Milan, meet up with our local guide and driver who will be with us throughout Italy. Travel through scenic Northern Italy to the town of Padua, a historical city set on the Bacchiglione river, which once encircled this ancient walled town as a moat. Padua is also home to University of Padua, which in addition to being 800 years old, was home to the lecturer Galileo Galilei. We stay just outside of Padua’s main piazza for the next 2 evenings and finish the day off with an included Italian welcome dinner.

Day 3: Venice

Wake to a delicious breakfast before we depart for Venice, the “City of Canals.” This beautiful city is set on top of water and islands with bridges connecting throughout. Explore the city with our guide seeing sights like the Basilica di San Marco, Doge’s Palace, the former royal residence, along with many others. After some free time and lunch we’ll cruise the canals in Venice’s famous gondolas. Pass under the Bridge of Sighs, where a kiss guarantees eternal love, and pass thru the Grand Canal, the hub of this watery city. Our classic Italian day ends but tomorrow prepare to journey through Tuscany!

Day 4: Tuscany to Florence
Travel south through Tuscany, one of Italy’s most popular regions, on our way to Florence. Stop off in Ferrara where we’ll view a few of the many palaces from the 14th /15th centuries and then get lunch. Our hotel is located just off the main piazza; after checking in, get acquainted with the area with your tour director or on your own.

Day 5: Florence

Florence is known for its rich history and influence on the world from art to politics –begin the day with art as we stop by the Galleria dell’Accademia. This world-renowned art museum is known for many important renaissance statues and paintings, but Michelangelo’s David is the most well known. Make stops by the Duomo of Florence, the main church and cathedral of Florence, which is also known for being the world’s largest brick dome ever constructed. This afternoon will be free time for the group after stopping by Ponte Vecchio, a stone arch bridge built in Roman times that encloses shops and vendors.

Day 6: Argentario and Italy Coast

We depart from picturesque Florence today for the western coast of Italy to the region of Argentario. Olive and wine harvest season takes place now, so we’ll make a stop at a local vineyard for a wine and olive experience. After lunch and some sightseeing along the way, we will enjoy a relaxing night on the coast. Tomorrow, experience some small Argentario villages and finish our day in one of the most amazing cities in the world, Rome!

Day 7: Arrival to Rome
Travel down the coast and arrive into Rome; it was historically one of the most important cities in the world and we’ll learn why. This city has seen some of the most influential rulers, artists and philosophers of all time and we will get to follow in their footsteps for the next 3 days!

Day 8: Vatican and Sistine Chapel

Tour the famous Vatican Museums – view centuries old paintings and sculptures with the last being the famous Sistine Chapel. See the Renaissance era sculpture Pietà by Michelangelo, the Chair of Saint Peter and many more. Take leisure time in Saint Peter’s Square, the Spanish Steps, and visit the Parthenon. After lunch enjoy some free time and get together for a social hour before dinner tonight.

Day 9: Ancient Rome

Explore the ancient landmarks of Roman Empire and learn how they took hold of the modern world in the first century. Tour the Colosseum, known for its roman gladiators and the brutal games that took place there. Also, see the Roman Forum, which was the governmental and financial center of Rome. For the end of the day visit the famous Trevi Fountain, designed by Nicola Salvi and finished in 1762. Toss a coin into the fountain and it’s said you are ensured a return visit. As our tour winds down, enjoy a final fantastic Italian farewell meal together.

Day 10: Flying Home
Our tour of one of the most amazing countries in the world is winding down. Fly out this morning to your original departure location, and get home by the end of the day. We hope that you had an incredible journey with us and now understand why Italy is one of our favorite destinations in the world.
