Day 1: Fly Into Denver

Welcome to Colorado! Upon arrival in Denver, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to relax or explore the surrounding area. This evening, meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers for a welcome introduction to the journey ahead.

Day 2: Colorado Rail Museum and Georgetown Loop

We set out for Golden to visit the fascinating Colorado Railroad Museum, home to an impressive collection of historic locomotives and railcars.

This afternoon, step back in time aboard the Georgetown Loop Railroad. This 1880s engineering marvel winds through the mountains between Georgetown and Silver Plume, offering a glimpse into Colorado’s rich mining history. Later, we continue to Silverthorne for our overnight stay.

Day 3: Leadville Rail Experience

Today, we travel into the heart of Colorado’s high country for a scenic ride on the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad. Journey through alpine forests and along the Arkansas River, with sweeping views of Mount Elbert and Mount Massive—Colorado’s highest peaks.

Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure in Silverthorne, where you can relax or explore the surrounding mountain scenery.

Day 4: Journey to Durango

Sit back and enjoy a picturesque drive through the Rocky Mountains as we make our way south to Durango. Along the way, we pass by many historic mining towns and take in sweeping views of forests, valleys, and alpine peaks.

Day 5: Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

A highlight of the journey awaits as we board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. This iconic steam train follows the Animas River through breathtaking canyons and dramatic mountain scenery.

Enjoy time in the historic mining town of Silverton before returning to Durango.

Day 6: Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad

Today we experience one of North America’s most spectacular rail journeys aboard the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Travel across mountain passes, through alpine forests, and over towering trestles on this unforgettable ride.

Later, we continue to Alamosa.

Day 7: Royal Gorge Route Railroad

Travel north to Canon City for a scenic journey aboard the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Follow the Arkansas River deep into the Royal Gorge, where sheer canyon walls rise dramatically around you.

Continue to Colorado Springs for the evening.

Day 8: Pikes Peak Cog Railway & Garden of the Gods

This morning, ascend to the summit of Pikes Peak aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. At over 14,000 feet, take in breathtaking panoramic views of the Rockies.

We then visit the stunning red rock formations of Garden of the Gods before continuing to Denver for departures.
